Linus Pauling Quartet, the veteran psych-rock five-piece out of Texas, releases their new album Bag of Hammers. Bag of Hammers is LP4’s eighth studio album, an amount virtually unreachable for most bands; moreover, they even have a three CD box set coming out this winter that spans the course of their decade-long career. Their tongue-in-cheek lyrics and unwavering commitment to quality stoner metal jams has BoH garnering rave reviews.
To celebrate the release of BoH, Linus Pauling Quartet is also unleashing "Victory Gin," the new single off the album that not-so-quietly ventures into catchier territory. Ironically playing off the fictional drink from the novel 1984, where "Victory Gin" is described as a vile tasting and stank, LP4’s single has an agreeable, lighter vibe that brings out more of their psychedelic side, while the lyrics paint a post-apocalyptic world full of approaching black floods and "Soylent green."
