Warsaw State Gallery "Test" presents original oil paintings by Maciej Hoffman. This solo exhibition shows works created in last two years. The vernissage was on October 29th and the exhibition will run to November 20, 2009. In Test Gallery Maciej Hoffman has the possibility to show his large format works which can be seen from the outside through the huge gallery windows - from sidewalks and from one of Warsaw's main streets. In this way the paintings are incorporated as a part of big city life.
The main idea which Maciej Hoffman would like to express is artisic independence and freedom as a basic element of creation. "In painting, I appreciate the courage of opinion and freedom as the means of expression. I do not like decorative-ness and submission to trends or fashion. I emphasize no means of expression or artistic techniques - the intellectual values of art are more important to me than the style in which they are expressed. In the modern world, art is the margin of freedom, which can and should be used."
Currently Maciej Hoffman is also taking part in a post-contest exhibition titled "Urban Legends" in Manhattan. He is also participating in the 15th Interational of Vendas Novas - group show in Portugal. The next exhibition of Maciej Hoffman's painting will be at the Florence Biennale from December 5 to 13, 2009.
